Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah is the current Managing Director of Interport Group, one of Bangladesh's leading maritime services providers, specializing in Marine Survey, Marine Risk Management, P&I Claims Handling, Ship Agency, and Maritime Logistics. Under his leadership, Interport Group has grown into a key player in the country’s maritime sector. Tanjil’s maritime journey began during his childhood when he sailed with his father Capt. MAK (founder of Interport Group), a globally renowned Master Mariner, on ocean-going vessels across Asia and the South Pacific. These early experiences cultivated his passion for the maritime industry. Despite earning a bachelor's degree with full merit-based scholarship in Electronics and Communication Engineering from BRAC University, Tanjil's heart remained in maritime services, where he has since built an impressive career spanning over 15 years. As a forward-thinking leader, Tanjil holds multiple prestigious positions in international maritime organizations. He is a Chartered Fellow (FCILT) of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT, UK) and founded the Next Generation of CILT Bangladesh with a vision to nurture young talent in the industry. Tanjil is is also a member of the Nautical Institute (UK), and in 2021, he was elected as the youngest Board Director of the Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association (BSAA) for two consecutive terms. His leadership extends to his roles as the Founding President of YoungShip Bangladesh and a Steering Committee Member of the IMO Working Group of YoungShip International, which the largest youth organisation in Shipping founded in Norway in 2004. In addition to his leadership in the maritime sector, Tanjil has been appointed as a Member of several prestigious committees, including the Standing Committee on Blue Economy and Industry/Academia at the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), and the Standing Committee on Blue Economy at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI). His contributions to maritime sustainability and anti-corruption efforts earned him a role as a Working Group Member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) in 2024, representing the BSAA. Tanjil's passion for education and continuous development led him to complete a postgraduate LLB in Law from the University of London in 2023, with plans to further specialize in Maritime Law. He has also attended professional training programs abroad by International Group Clubs in areas such as P&I insurance and loss prevention. Tanjil’s vision centers on the sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s economy by contributing to build a more transparent maritime sector, with a specific focus on transforming Bangladeshi ports into a preferred destination for foreign ship operators.
